About Me
I am a mid-career professional, born and raised in Los Angeles. I hold a Master of Arts degree in English with an option in Rhetoric and Composition and a focus on Linguistics applied in adult literacy. While I incorporated many new kinds of media in the classroom, I heavily focused on patterns and systems thinking for a lot of my students who struggle with concepts in reading and writing that I, as a native English speaker often took for granted while growing up in the American education system, which transfers into the technology we have come to rely on every day.
Aside from my teaching experience, I have worked as an editor, a research assistant, tutor, script supervisor, coordinator, production assistant, executive assistant, and administrative assistant in a variety of places and different sized institutions all over Los Angeles. Currently I work as a Technical and User Experience Writer in the financial industry. no matter what industry I am in, ultimately, my job is to help create a happy path for users through deliberate, thoughtful, and intuitive word choice.
My approach to any project involving writing and text begins with empathy - meeting someone where they are. It doesn't matter what the technology is - an app, a system, a door, a button; the more accessible we make technology, the more it benefits every user, and THAT is Human Centered Design!
“Language is not just words. It’s a culture, a tradition, a unification of a community, a whole history that creates what a community is.”
- Noam Chomsky
